Starting the week of May 5th we will be beginning our unit on Clouds and Weather!
Day 1
On Monday we will do an activity that explores your prior knowledge regarding clouds! We will also be discussing and
comparing your cloud observations that you recorded in your journals last week. The last thing we will do is
looking at a PowerPoint that will introduce the lesson.
Day 2
On Tuesday we will be completing an art project. The class will be split into five different groups. Each group will
be assigned to a type of cloud and then will make a model of it using the art materials. After you complete your art project
we will learn how to write a Concrete Poem and then create one that talks about our mood related to weather and clouds. We
will finish the day by reading a book called, The Rain by Michael Laser.
Day 3
On Wednesday, I will be completing a demonstration that will show how a cloud is formed. We will then study how
a cloud is formed and work on learning the water cycle.
Day 4
On Thursday, we will review the PowerPoint on clouds. Then we will use weather.com to predict what type of clouds will
be in the sky for the next week according to the weather prediction. For the majority of the day you will return to the
same groups as the art project and work on a PowerPoint, the final project for the unit. At the end of the day we will review
for the water cycle test tomorrow.
MAKE SURE YOU STUDY FOR THE WATER CYCLE QUIZ FOR TOMORROW, FRIDAY MAY 8th!
Day 5
Students will continue working on their PowerPoint.
AT THE END OF THE DAY WE WILL HAVE THE QUIZ ON THE WATER CYCLE
Day 6
Small groups will present their PowerPoint to the class!
